ImageCat wins 1st Prize in Worldwide Remote Sensing Contest
Long Beach, CA - August, 2005. ImageCat’s entry “Analyzing Hurricane Charley Damage” has been awarded 1st place in the 2005
Geospatial Solutions contest to find the most innovative and creative application of geospatial
technologies. ImageCat’s entry documented post-windstorm damage assessment in the aftermath of
Hurricane Charley, using high-resolution satellite imagery in conjunction with the VIEWS™ data
collection and visualization system. The deployment was a collaborative effort between ImageCat,
Inc and the Wind Science Engineering and Research Center (WISE) at Texas Tech University, and
was funded through support from the National Science Foundation (NSF SGER grant number 0454564),
the Natural Hazards Research and Applications Information Center (NHRAIC) Quick Response program,
and the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER). A report documenting
