3D-London: ImageCat's 3DCity Model for the City of London
Long Beach, CA - March, 2006. 3D-London is the first realistic 3D urban model for the City of London - the international financial capital of the World. It is the flagship offering from ImageCat's 3DCity program, which was initiated in 2004 to meet the advanced building inventory needs of the insurance, asset management, planning and security markets.
3D-London provides a detailed structural model of the more than 1,000 buildings within the City, and includes highly-accurate information about building height, number of stories, footprint area and location. It includes famous landmarks including St Paul's Cathedral and the SwissRe 'Gherkin'. The model is compatible with Google Earth, ESRI software and other common GIS applications.
3DCity models offer stand alone guidance for risk assessment, and are readily integrated into new and existing decision support protocols. For evaluating high-value corporate risks, at the click of a button, 3D-London provides a detailed visualization and accompanying structural information. For improved disaster scenario testing, 3D-London is easily combined with flood maps, fire following assumptions, plume dispersal models, bomb blast radii, or line of sight calculations.
Due for release later this summer, 3D-London Version 1.1 is under development, and will include an expanded suite of building attributes requested by the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
