ImageCat joins MCEER team in their investigation of the World Trade Center Attacks Long Beach, CA - November 28, 2001. After the September 11th attacks, the National Science Foundation awarded eight grants to conduct post-event reconnaissance and data collection activities of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. MCEER's effort involves 1) on-site inspections of the collapsed World Trade Center towers and surrounding buildings, 2) field investigations with hospital and emergency response personnel, and 3) the collection of airborne and satellite information and imagery from before and after the attacks. ImageCat will be involved with the third area, i.e., collection of airborne and satellite imagery. Through this research, we hope to gain a better understanding of that damage that occurred and the demands that
were placed on hospital and government emergency response systems immediately following the disaster. The data
that is collected will be used to help improve the strength and performance of buildings and other structures
during natural and other disasters, and to improve the nation's response to such threats. ![]()
