M7.4 earthquake in Taiwan, April 2024

A strong earthquake struck Taiwan on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The magnitude 7.4 quake was centered in Hualien County, located about 90 miles south of the capital, Taipei. Nine people have been confirmed dead and almost 100,000 households are without power. Search and rescue efforts are currently underway as the area continues to experience strong aftershocks.
