Flooding in Indonesia

Heavy monsoonal rains have caused flooding in Indonesia. Parts of the capitol city of Jakarta flooded, with water covering approximately 17% of the city according to media reports. At least 45,000 residents were displaced from their homes. Severe flooding in the city during the monsoon season has become an annual crisis in the city due to issues such as over-development and clogged waterways.

In northern Indonesia flooding and landslides displace tens of thousands of people. The hardest hit region was the North Sulawesi province.
