Los Angeles 5.1 Earthquake

A magnitude 5.1 M.w. earthquake shook the Los Angeles, CA region at 9:09 pm on Friday, March 28, 2014. The quake occurred along the Puente Hills fault, with its epicenter just east of the City of La Habra. There were no reports of major damage.

Scientists have warned that a strong earthquake along the Puente Hills fault could cause massive damage. It is a blind thrust fault that extends through the densely populated areas of suburban north Orange County, through the San Gabriel Valley, under the skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles and ending in Hollywood.
