Wildfire Valparaiso, Chile

A raging wildfire has destroyed sections of the City of Valparaiso, Chile. The fire began on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from unknown causes. Media accounts estimate that over 660 acres of land have burned, with 2,900 homes destroyed and at least 12 people killed. As of Wednesday, April 16 the fire was contained but not extinguished.

Valparaiso is a hilly port city, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage City. President Michelle Bachelet has vowed to rebuild the destroyed parts of the city.
