ImageCat, CIESIN and Dr. David Tralli awarded NASA grant to use space-based data to develop Global Exposure Datasets

30 Sep 2014

NASA has funded ImageCat, the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) and Dr. David Tralli through the Applied Sciences Program for a three-year Phase II study to investigate the use of space-based data to infer risk through development of a Global Exposure Dataset (GED). The methods build significantly on products developed for the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) and applied in disaster risk management activities for several clients. The grant builds on 15 years of research through NASA, National Science Foundation (NSF), and other funding organizations. ImageCat is working with partners in the insurance industry to develop specifications and test products for eventual commercialization.
