Flooding Albania, Macedonia, November 2014

20 Nov 2014

Torrential rains caused flash flooding in parts of Albania the week of November 16, 2014. Homes in the Lezhe and Lac districts were flooded. Flooding also occurred in main streets, apartments and businesses in Tirana and the western city of Durres. Power and water supplies have been cut in some areas as well. More rain is expected and the army has been put on alert to help with any needed evacuations.

Sections of the Kumanovo region in Macedonia flooded as well, as heavy rains caused the Lipkovska, Konjarska, and Kumasovska rivers to overflow and flood some houses and agricultural land.  The Vardar River also spilled over its banks in some areas of the Tetovo region.
