Typhoon Koppu made landfall along the northeastern Philippine province of Aurora on October 18, 2015 as a Category 5 storm. Koppu quickly lost strength but moved very slowly over land, overflowing rivers and creating streams down mountainsides. Some villages were severely flooded. Forty three people were reported killed from the storm and tens of thousands were displaced.
