Southern U.S. Flooding. March 2016

A powerful and slow-moving storm brought up to 2 feet of rain to some parts of the southern United States the week of March 6, 2016. Swollen rivers and streams overflowed, flooding towns along their banks. Emergency officials have estimated almost 5,000 homes have been damaged by flood water in Louisiana, 800 in Mississippi and 400 in Texas.  At least 6 storm-related deaths and over 3,000 rescues by the National Guard were reported.
