Earthquakes in Japan, April 2016

15 Apr 2016

Two large earthquakes struck the southern Japanese island of Kyushu this week. The first earthquake, on April 14, had a magnitude of 6.2. At least 9 people were killed and over 800 reported injured. The worst damage was reported in Mashiki, about 9 miles east of Kumamoto city. The second quake, 7.0M, on April 15 struck the same region,  killing 33 people. Rainfall and aftershocks are hampering rescue efforts.
