Wildfires in Alberta, Canada, May 2016

Fast-spreading wildfires have forced the evacuation of approximately 80,000 residents of the Canadian town Fort McMurray on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.  The town, whose industry is largely oil production, is located in a remote area of Alberta, surrounded by forest. Entire neighborhoods were reportedly burned. Hot and dry conditions continue to fuel the fire, which is currently over 24,000 acres in size.
