Flooding in Hawaii, April 2018

Record-breaking rainfall caused flash flooding and mudslides in Hawaii over the weekend of April 14-15, 2018. Forty-nine inches of rain were recorded in just 24 hours. Over 350 people were evacuated from flood-stricken areas on Kauai, which received the most damage. The storm damaged hundreds of homes, roads, and bridges as well as knocking out power to many. State officials have requested federal assistance.
