Wildfires in Western U.S.

10 Jul 2018

Recent wildfires have besieged the Western United States. There are multiple fires burning in California. The Klamathon Fire has burned over 35,250 acres of land along the border of Oregon. Contained at 60%, the fire has destroyed 81 structures, killed one person and injured three firefighters. The largest of the California fires is the County Fire in Yolo and Napa counties. The fire has burned over 90,000 acres of land and is almost contained. Two fires in Southern California started over the weekend, but are now 100% contained. In Santa Barbara County, the Holiday Fire destroyed 28 structures. In San Diego the West Fire burned 18 structures.

There are a dozen more wildfires burning from the Wyoming border to southern Colorado as well. Dry hot weather and a continuing drought in the West are perfect conditions for wildfires and experts warn that this will be an active fire season.
