Hurricane Lane in Hawaii, August 2018

24 Aug 2018

Hurricane Lane was downgraded to a Tropical Storm over the weekend of August 26, 2018. The storm’s outer bands began battering Hawaii’s Big Island on Thursday the 24th when it was a Category 3 storm. Although it never made landfall, the slow-moving storm dumped more than four feet of rain on some parts of the island, damaging homes and causing flash flooding, landslides, and road closures. Parts of Maui experienced flash flooding as well. Lane has now moved past the Hawaiian Islands out to sea.
