Super Typhoon Mangkhut made landfall on the Philippine island of Luzon on the morning of Saturday, September 15. The storm wreaked havoc on the islands of Guam and the Marshall Islands earlier in the week, causing widespread flooding and power loss. At least 81 people are reported dead in the Philippines, most killed by storm-created landslides.

Mangkhut continued to the northeast and made landfall, first in Hong Kong, then in heavily populated Guangdong, China on Sunday, killing four people, damaging buildings and flooding low-lying areas.
