Cyclone Idai, Mozambique, March, 2019

Cyclone Idai made landfall in the port city of Beira, Mozambique on Thursday, March 14, 2019. The storm battered the region with high winds and rain that created severe flooding. Much of Beira was submerged under floodwaters. The storm was destructive in Zimbabwe and Malawi as well. The combined death toll for the three countries is over 500, with about half from Mozambique. Over a million people have been affected by the storm, creating a significant humanitarian crisis.
