Hurricane Barry, the first hurricane to make landfall this year in the U.S., came ashore in Louisiana on Saturday, July 13, 2019 as a Category 1 storm. The region was already waterlogged from a previous storm and experts feared that Barry would bring catastrophic flooding to New Orleans. Fortunately the area was spared as the storm was disorganized. The storm remnants are moving north as a tropical depression. The storm is expected to join with another system and bring heavy rainfall to the Midwest up to the Great Lakes and the Northeast.
