The largest earthquake to shake Southern California in the last two decades occurred on July 5, 2019. The M7.1 quake was centered near the town of Ridgecrest in the Mojave Desert. There a M6.4 foreshock on the previous day and there have been thousands of smaller aftershocks in the days following. Fortunately, there was no major damage to buildings and infrastructure and there were no fatalities.

ImageCat has been helping some of its clients establish the impacts of the earthquake to their properties through the SeismiCat platform. Using Shakemap data from the USGS, SeismiCat provides rapid post-earthquake damage estimates for the sites saved there.  The damage estimates produced from the SeismiCat system using ShakeMap can assist in post-earthquake response and recovery mobilization.
