Typhoon Hagibis, Japan, Oct 2019

Typhoon Hagibis made landfall on Saturday night, October 12th in the Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan.  The storm caused extensive damage with strong winds and torrential rain that gave rise to major flooding and landslides. The storm is responsible for at least 55 deaths. Search and rescue operations are still underway.

This is the second strong typhoon to hit the island nation in a month. Typhoon Faxai caused significant damage to Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture in early September.
