ImageCat attended the UK Space Agency project METEOR quarterly meeting in Kathmandu, November 11-14, 2019

Charlie Huyck and Shubharoop Ghosh of ImageCat attended the quarterly meeting of the UK Space Agency funded project, METEOR in Kathmandu, Nepal, November 11-14, 2019. The meetings were attended by the British Geological Survey (BGS), Global Earthquake Model (GEM), Nepal’s National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET), Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) and ImageCat.

On November 11-12, the group reviewed project progress, which included presentations by work package leads. Mr. Huyck presented updates on the national scale exposure data development for Nepal. Mr. Ghosh reported updates on the sustainability plan. NSET provided an International Partner presentation, discussing details of building code compliance programs in Nepal.

METEOR stakeholder meetings were held November 13-14th. The first day of meetings were attended by stakeholders working at the policy-making level, the acting UK Ambassador to Nepal, NSET personnel and various university professors. Day 2 was attended by individuals with technical background from various government ministries, bureaus and academic institutions. The day included individual presentations on exposure, landslide, seismic hazard and flood and included open discussion and a question and answer session.
