ImageCat at AGU 2020 Fall Meeting

10 Dec 2020

AGU

ImageCat and its research partners will have a strong presence at the virtual AGU 2020 Fall Meeting, December 1-17th, with two poster sessions and five presentations on wide-ranging topics such as utilizing Earth observation (EO) for wildfire detection, flood forecasting, critical infrastructure/building exposure models, Google Earth Engine applications, and insurance in developing countries. Shubharoop Ghosh will be leading the poster sessions: Developing models for building damage estimation for wildfires using Earth Observation (EO) data, Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) maps, and Structural vulnerability functions and Earth Observation (EO) based critical infrastructure exposure models and flood forecasting techniques for risk monitoring and management for the city of Vadodara, India. Shubharoop Ghosh will present the UK Space Agency’s METEOR project: Making the case for Earth Observation (EO) data for insurance in developing countries. Paul Amyx will present at the elightning session Deploying the Google Earth Engine in support of development of Open Critical Infrastructure Exposure for Disaster Forecasting, Mitigation and Response. Charles K. Huyck will present Modeling the exacerbated natural hazard impacts due to climate change for the island nation of Antigua and Barbuda using HAZUS. ImageCat are also part of Cascade Tuholske’s eLightning session on A Comparison of Gridded Population Data Products in Disaster Response, and Margaret T Glasscoe’s (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory) presentation session on Rapid Flood Severity Classification and Alerting for the Spring 2020 Africa Floods: A Case Study.
