7.2M earthquake in Haiti, August 2021

A 7.2M earthquake struck Haiti 78 miles west of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince on August 14, 2021. The death toll has grown to near 2,000 as response operations continue. The quake severely damaged homes and infrastructure, including hospitals, roads, and bridges. Tens of thousands of people are reported homeless. Further compounding the dire situation, Tropical Depression Grace brought heavy rain and subsequent flooding across the island nation on the following Monday.
