6.4M Earthquake in Northern California, Dec 2022

A 6.4M earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California early morning on December 20, 2022. The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 7.5 miles from the town of Ferndale in Humboldt County. No threat of a tsunami was detected. Damage to buildings and infrastructure has been reported, including a power outage to 70,000 people, and road and bridge damage. The city of Del Rio is also without water. The quake falls on the anniversary of a 6.2M earthquake in Humboldt County, off the coast of Cape Mendocino in 2021.
